silent melody

piano man
"Perhaps all music, even the newest, is not so much something discovered as something that re-emerges from where it lay buried in the memory, inaudible as a melody cut in a disc of flesh. A composer lets me hear a song that has always been shut up silent within me.” - Jean Genet

A wonderful image, perfectly capturing the essence of the moment, the light and the concentration of the artist.Bedautifully observed.

And the quote from Genet (the man who allegedly inspired my musical hero, David Bowie's, 1972 song 'Jean Genie'), is so wonderful.

Music is a vital part of my life, my pleasure, my sanity. It encapsulates memories of given points on the journey of my life, it conveys an emotion, a memory, a feeling, it frees my soul and dances across my senses with a grace and elegance that seduces me and leaves me wanting more.

Having a wondeful neighbour who is partially deaf doesn't hurt either! ha ha

Wow, I was just commenting elsewhere about the importance and key presence music has in my life. Great quote. I am glad folks share their compositions with us.

my love of music extends only as far as dancing to it, having been raised by a dance teacher and having been one myself...which i've recently come to terms with in my music appreciation class.....

but this is so poetic, both the quote and the pic, that you can't help but just love it!!! very, very nice work!
