into the wild: one

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure , the process is its own reward.” -Amelia Earhart

summer stroll

“It is always the simple things that change our lives. And these things never happen when you are looking for them to happen. Life will reveal answers at the pace life wishes to do so. You feel like running, but life is a stroll. This is how God does things.”
-Donald Miller

kangaroo flower

So last thursday I went with my mom and her good friend Annette to the Frederik Meijer's Gardens, in Grand Rapids. While we were there I was able to capture a handful of gorgeous flowers from all over the world. I plan on sharing some of my favorites in the next couple days. Yesterdays post had some of the prettiest flowers from the whole day, they were from the tropical garden along with the flowers from today. I found the above flower so interesting, it actually had a little pouch hanging off the front like a kangaroo...it was pretty nifty.
**edit** The name of this flower is not "Kangaroo Flower", that is just what it made me think of. Haha. Sorry for any confusion.

Sunday Citar: Dancing Light

"Escape to a place of forever, where tomorrow is far away. Forget about all your questions and focus on today. Find yourself, enveloped by blooming flowers. Let the colors breathe new life. Tomorrow will come in the morning, today dance in the light."

knock knock

“Not many sounds in life, and I include all urban and rural sounds, exceed in interest a knock at the door” - Charles Lamb
There are a number of doors that we will encounter in our lives, some of them we will choose to walk through-others we will choose to walk away from. We make so many choices every day, without ever really thinking. So I ask, what doors do you find yourself drawn to? Are you drawn to the doors where you know what is waiting for you on the other side or are you more eager to find the doors that hold the most unknown adventure?

locked away

Do you ever stop to look at the people you pass throughout your day and wonder what kinds of things they have locked up inside of them? I often wonder what kinds of memories they've clung to from their pasts or what trials they have fought to overcome. So many people in this life rely wholly on themselves, they have no one to call on, no one they trust to be vulnerable with. Thinking about these people I recognize how easy it may seem to lock all of you away, if someone doesn't know who you really are they don't have the ability to hurt you. Is that their greatest fear? The pain of rejection is terrifying but you can overcome it. Don't keep yourself from building strong friendships, from falling in love, from really loving yourself. Open your self up, you only get one chance to live your life it will be so much better if you're not alone.

loves sacred flame
Here is a sneak peek of some of my favorite shots I've taken of the Blues. I love that they let me practice on them :)

“All thoughts, all passions, all delights, whatever stirs this mortal frame, all are but ministers of love, and feed his sacred flame.” -Samuel Taylor Coleridge
