"The Office" Madness - Better late than never!

Hi friends, so I've recently been immersing myself in "the Office." When the show first came out I had no real desire to watch it, there was always something else on or something else to do and it never caught my attention. Recently I was house-sitting for some friends and they had Netflix. Seasons 1 through 5 were in the instant viewing category, never having entire shows at my disposal before I set out to take full advantage. I decided that I would start from the beginning and see if I could figure out what all the fuss was about.

It happened instantly, I fell in love with the crazy cast of absolutely normal but ridiculous characters. There are so many laugh out loud moments, I was literally in tears at times. One of the key things that drew me in was Jim and Pam (yes, I'm a girl relationships get me)....I watched all the way up to the 5th season and was ready to dive into the 6th but it was not yet available. I couldn't believe that I got this far and I wasn't going to see Jim and Pam get married.

So to make a long story short, I finally saw the wedding and it was perfect. Jim's toast at the rehearsal dinner, his pick-up speech/tie slaughter before the ceremony and his plans were so precious. I was left smiling and teary. I know, I know...it is just a show but man those writers know how to tug at my heart strings. Jim was the man, his love for her was so evident it took me back to Casino night when he first told her he was in love with her. Good stuff all around.

I'll leave you with some of my favorite quotes from the episode:

“Four years ago I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl who had a boyfriend. And I had to do the hardest thing I ever had to do, which was just to wait. Don’t get me wrong I flirted with her. Pam, I can now admit in front of friends and family that I do know how to make a photocopy. I didn’t need your help that many times. And do you remember how long it took you to teach me to drive stick? (Pam: Like a year). I’ve been driving stick since high school. For a really long time that’s all I had. Little moments with a girl who saw me as a friend. And a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl who I worked with, but I think, even then I knew, I was waiting for my wife.”

“I bought those boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video. I knew we’d need a back up plan. The boat was actually Plan C. The church was Plan B. And Plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met her.”

And some stills that make me smile:

Hope you all have a great Saturday. I am heading up to a balloon launch in a couple hours...pictures to come :)

i love this show. my sister hadn't seen it either so i started to watch it with her from the beginning all the up through the end of season 5 (thanks Netflix). we were all heartbroken at the end of Casino Night, frustrated all through Season 3 when Karen was in the picture, and rejoiced and cried when they finally married in season 6. i know, and i agree, it is just a show. but it tugs at the heart. and i love it.

i'm glad you got to discover the greatness of The Office.

ps- the best way to watch a show is from beginning to end. i love Netflix for this. so much.
