Night-Lights

When I was younger I was one of the many kids out there that asked for a night-light daily, the darkness made me nervous. I didn't like when I couldn't see what was around me, my imagination would go wild. Fear would grip my little heart and my mind would get lost in millions of scenarios, "this could happen" or "they could break in" or "what if there's a fire." Thankfully I overcame the fears as I got more secure in my faith and found comfort in the Lord.
Now, I find beauty in the night and how the light dances in the darkness.

Have a happy weekend! I'm going camping...should have some fun pics to share next week :)

Sneak Peek: Meet Baby Cole

Baby Cole
Baby Cole
10 little fingers, 10 little toes, a head full of hair and a sweet button nose; baby Cole stole our hearts as soon as he walked through the door. There's just something about that sweet baby smell that makes my insides melt. Check out my partner in crime for more pics of this handsome little man. Thank you Dan and Amanda for giving us the awesome privilege of spending time with you and your new little wonder. Congrats again!

It's All a Process

Happy Weekend All!

Sunday Citar: What makes you come alive?

(The picture above of the Hippos is from our trip to the zoo yesterday. Two things that make me come alive are photography and spending
time exploring new places with good friends.)

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Howard Thurman

"I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit." Dawna Markova

What's Underneath?

Whenever I stumble upon an old building I can't keep myself from imagining what might of occurred there in moments past. The ones that draw me in are the ones that look worn and are covered in layers of ivy, layers of time. The ones that seem they've been forgotten. It is easy to see the beauty in these forgotten places, to see the potential that sits waiting to be explored and discovered. For me I often imagine these buildings as unfulfilled dreams, they start out with all the potential but a few bumps in the road and the vision of their greatness becomes a little blurry. Dreams can be scary if you don't believe that they can be a reality. Because when we dream it is us recognizing our deepest desires, no one wants to put their desires out there and feel the weight of failure or rejection. Fear often keeps us from trying.

"God wants us to be people who know how to live life on the edge, that is what faith is, that is what courage is. You look at many of the Bible principles they are not just in the middle, they are on the edge. Faith is putting yourself out there and trusting God. Courage is like this raw boldness, it's stepping out when it seems crazy, when it makes no sense." Brian Houston

Dreams rarely are in the middle, they always call us to the edge and challenge us to jump. I've got my fair share of dreams that I've not yet fully chased for fear of failure but I am ready to embrace the raw boldness and believe the truth, that God is directing my path. “The only real failure in life is the failure to try.”

Puppies are the Perfect Fix for Mondays

There is just something about a puppy that makes me act like a kid...I love how rambunctious they are, I love their soft fur coats and their puppy breath. They can get me rolling in the grass, squealing like my heart is about to explode from cuteness, and just plain begging my parents to let me keep one. Like I said, I turn into a kid again and I love every minute. Hahah

My dear lil Shelbi was in need of a few portraits for a job prospect, so I snagged her after church for 15mins and shot her cute face. I have to say I'm diggin her shirt and her shoes in these. She is super stylish, she's never afraid to wear whatever she likes and I love that about her. I love her independence and creativity, stick with it Shelbs.
