What's Underneath?
Whenever I stumble upon an old building I can't keep myself from imagining what might of occurred there in moments past. The ones that draw me in are the ones that look worn and are covered in layers of ivy, layers of time. The ones that seem they've been forgotten. It is easy to see the beauty in these forgotten places, to see the potential that sits waiting to be explored and discovered. For me I often imagine these buildings as unfulfilled dreams, they start out with all the potential but a few bumps in the road and the vision of their greatness becomes a little blurry. Dreams can be scary if you don't believe that they can be a reality. Because when we dream it is us recognizing our deepest desires, no one wants to put their desires out there and feel the weight of failure or rejection. Fear often keeps us from trying.
"God wants us to be people who know how to live life on the edge, that is what faith is, that is what courage is. You look at many of the Bible principles they are not just in the middle, they are on the edge. Faith is putting yourself out there and trusting God. Courage is like this raw boldness, it's stepping out when it seems crazy, when it makes no sense." Brian Houston
Dreams rarely are in the middle, they always call us to the edge and challenge us to jump. I've got my fair share of dreams that I've not yet fully chased for fear of failure but I am ready to embrace the raw boldness and believe the truth, that God is directing my path. “The only real failure in life is the failure to try.”
