So like I had mentioned in my previous post, today my friends and I set out on our first photo excursion (yes, we plan on going on many more), we had an awesome time and got a lot of great shots. Our day began at the railroad tracks where we got up close and personal with all things train, then we discovered an old truck filled with so much character that it could transport you back in time. From there we took a drive down a back road where we stumbled upon the remains of a house that had seen it's share of hardship. Leaving behind the wreckage we headed over to a dairy farm and had face time with some lovable cattle. I didn't want to leave the farm (you all know my love for all things farm) but Chris had other things in mind. We ventured on to a deer sanctuary where we coaxed a fawn into a spur of the moment photo-shoot. By this point we were all hungry, needed bathroom breaks and baby blue was ready to join us on our excursion. So we headed over to pick her up, got some lunch at good-ol' TGI Fridays and then set out on the rest of our journey. We explored an old factory and played in semi-truck beds filled with hay. Our day came to an end at Cold Stone where we all savored the creamy sweetness. This is the first photo from our ________ trip. If you are wondering about the _______, we have not yet figured out what we want to call our excursions. Anyone got any suggestions?

range of beauty

VAmountain
vamountains
“Men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty billows of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, and pass themselves by.” -Saint Augustine

This is so true, I often am so taken back by the beauty of all the natural wonder around me that I don't recognize the intricate design found in each individual, the precious miracle in the face of each person I pass throughout the day. I also, as he said in the quote, sometimes overlook the potential and beauty in myself.

set out on an adventure

“We should come home from adventures, and perils, and discoveries every day with new experience and character” -Henry David Thoreau

I love this quote, there is an adventure awaiting us each time we step outside our front doors...it's just opening our eyes and recognizing it. Some of my friends (tab, crystal, chris) and I are setting out on a little photography adventure Saturday, I am super excited to see what fun things we discover.

no flash

So this week is no flash, which was an easy one for me since I rarely use my flash. This is colton, he is a cutie. If you like editing photos head over to iHeartFaces and join in on the fun.

plastic people

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” -Ashley Smith

I love this quote because the beauty that she speaks of isn't something that is perfect or even seen as beauty by many, but when you realize its depths that beauty can be experienced by everyone. Whether it be the intricate patterns on the wings of a bee or the way a field of grass can look like the waves of the ocean when passed over by the wind, beauty isn't limited by time or age. Plastic people aren't beautiful, perfection is the farthest thing from beauty in my book.

Hello my awesome blog-friends meet buddy. My best friends parents got this sweet lil pup a couple days ago and after meeting him just once I am in love. Look at his lil speckled nose, he is soo cute. I love how he looks like a polar bear cub and when he walks it's a sideways saunter. I didn't want to give him back. Haha He makes me smile.

You
(I wrote this for my mom to my grandma)
you were there for me when i scraped my knee
you were there when i first fell in love
you were there when he turned his back on me
you held my hand, you were enough

you were there when i said my i do's
you were there when things came unglued
you were there to comfort and guide
you were there, you stayed by my side

you were there for me when my children were born
you were there to wipe tears from my eyes
you were there when they began to grow and soar
you were there to tell me our future was bright

you've been there my whole life through
i can't imagine a single day without you
tomorrow holds a different future than i dreamed
but your hand i will hold through everything

Goodbyes are hard, especially when you know that tomorrow will never again be like today. This thursday my family and I are going to celebrate my grandma's life. We are going to remember all the beautiful things she has done and all the people she has touched. We are going to say goodbye one last time until that day we meet with her again in heaven.
