worry not
It is easy, in this life, to get overwhelmed and allow ourselves to start creating "what if" scenarios. This track can be a dangerous one, it is more like an open invite for worry to come into our life. We worry about what others think, we worry about what will happen next, we worry about things that are not remotely in our control. And we lose sight of the beauty that is now. I'm not talking about planning, planning for your future can be exciting, planning is like dreaming out loud... that is different than worrying. Worrying drains you, it steals the joy out of situations, it weighs you down.
For some reason I think worrying about things somehow makes us feel more in control of the uncontrollable. This kind of activity is taxing and not beneficial, in my opinion. Why not fill that time with something worthwhile like focusing on recognizing all of the "what is" scenarios instead.
I know it is easier said than done... but next time you feel yourself falling down the "what if" worry rabbit hole maybe take a moment to step back and take in all that you have in life. Think about all the blessings: the relationships, the hobbies, the passions, the things that you love that bring you joy... allow all of that to saturate your thoughts and be encouraged. Leave the worry behind you, it isn't worth carrying around. It is much better to embrace the beauty that can be found in the "what is."
"Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up."
Proverbs 12:25

love is in the air

Today is my friends Debbie and Charles wedding day! I love them dearly and I know God has amazing things in store for them. I'm so excited for them and for the silly dancing that is to come at the reception. Wedding receptions are one of the few places where it is ok to bust out the oldies, you know what I'm talkin about... moves such as the sprinkler, bus driver, shopping cart and fisherman.... I am so pumped!
His beauty on display.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known.
They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known.
They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.
It bursts forth like a radiant bridegroom after his wedding.
It rejoices like a great athlete eager to run the race.
The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end.
Nothing can hide from its warmth.
Nothing can hide from its warmth.
Psalm 19:1-6
Sunday Citar: Flying Pigs

"What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are." Tony Robbins
I love this wall mural because it makes me think of that common phrase, "when pigs fly." Most of the time when people use this phrase, it is some how relating to a situation that is pretty much impossible in every reality. Reflecting on my life and where I am right now, I can say there are many things that have seemed out of my reach. Not because of my capabilities, but because of how I've seen myself. Today however, the pigs in my life are learning to fly. Discovering that, most of the time, you are the one limiting yourself and your dreams is the first step to making changes in your life.

any place worth going...

"There are no short cuts, to any place worth going." Beverly Sills
It is so easy to rush through life. We are all incredibly busy; we have places to be, people to see, things to do and we are so fixated on the next thing that we often speed through our days and miss out on the special in between moments. I am guilty of this, and I've decided to make an effort to constantly remind myself that the journey is just as important as the destination.

Sunday Citar: Friends
The Lord has blessed me with so many amazing friends. I heard somewhere that most people are lucky to find 5 true friends in their lifetime, well I am 28 and I've already been blessed with more than that. I just want to send out a big I LOVE YOU and I am SO THANKFUL for YOU to some of my dearest friends; Jessica Haist, Courtney Leedy, Tabitha Blue, Gerri Smalley, Rachel Pastukhov, Ashley Crump, Erin McDonald, Amanda Kramer, Ashlee Fay, Joanne Garcia and Monica Aguilar. You are all insanely amazing, beautiful, strong, driven, creative, inspiring, faithful, honest and priceless and I just want you to know that each one of you has made my life better. No matter where life takes us in the next 70yrs I hope you know that you've got a friend in me for life.

The Neither Season

"Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming." Shauna Niequist
I recently read an article about how there is a huge number of people in their mid to late twenties having a quarter life crisis. The jist of the article was that this is the time in your life where you get to discover the direction in which you want your life to move in. To discover who you are and who you want to be. This is the time to find a job you love, to get financially responsible, to fall in love aka figure out who you are and find the person that makes you your best, to have adventures with your friends, to dream and to know it is ok to chase after that dream.
I know from personal experience, that it can be a scary and intimidating time. A time of uncertainty, up until this point in your life there was always an already established next step. Something that you could naturally progress into. But now, everything is open. You have a blank slate and you have to figure out what you want to fill it with. Where you want to live, what makes you happy, how to support yourself financially, the list goes on. I think that part of the reason this time is so scary is that as people we naturally compare ourselves to others, we look at where our friends are in their lives and we start to wonder whether we will ever get there. Whether it be owning our own home, getting married, starting a family, finding a career...all these things are found at different paces for different people. You can't measure your life, your success, your dreams to what others have...your happiness won't come from sticking to their time line. It will come from recognizing yours.
While this season of life is full of questions and choices and can be scary because you are learning to stand on your own, I am happy to embrace it and relish this time of becoming.

"I never set out to become anything in particular, only to live creatively and push the scope of my experience through adventure and through passion."

I Love Love

Seeing two people in love (real love) is one of the most beautiful things to me. Watching how they love each other is like witnessing magic in action. It makes me smile, real goofy like the cheshire cat, and gives me hope that there are still fairy tales being written.

Happy Friday!

Life is a song ... sing it.
Life is a game ... play it.

Sunday Citar: Light for the Way

I just love the way the light breaks through my curtains at the start of each day, I am not a morning person by any means but the warm glow is comforting to me. I try to remind myself that every day is a gift and every morning I am given a new chance to make that day count. Life is full of blessings that can turn your world around and alter the way your heart beats and is also full of heartache that has the power to bring you to your knees; but no matter what the day holds we have the gracious promises of God to stand on. That He will never leave us or forsake us, that He has a plan and purpose for our lives, that He loves us so much that He died and rose again so that we might truly live. We don't know what tomorrow holds, but we do know that no matter what it is we are not alone.
“God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.”
